Wondering how to best spend your Hammamet Holidays? Just off the coast of Cap Bon (Tunisia), there is a magical 5-star resort (one of the best hotels in Hammamet, Tunisia!) dedicated to rejuvenation, rest, and sunshine – Hasdrubal Thalassa Resort & Spa.
‘Thalassa‘ actually derives from the Ancient Greek “Thálassa (Θάλασσα)”, meaning “sea or saltwater,” and Hasdrubal Thalassa & Spa did NOT disappoint. Hasdrubal Thalassa & Spa is committed to providing a restorative experience for the whole family.
Even former guest, Mariah Carey, agrees!

Hospitality in Tunisia
Tunisia is a class act. Everyone takes his or her profession and environment seriously so we received only the most professional service and attention. There’s almost an old Hollywood flair to hospitality in Tunisia.
People greet you by name and handshake; it was clear that this level of attention to detail and personalization was something unique to this culture. I’ve experienced a wide range of hospitality levels and this was by far one of the most memorable experiences.
My Experience
A friendly and professional driver picked us up in Tunis after spending the night with a friend of a friend in the early afternoon. Dressed immaculately in a suit and tie, the driver set the tempo for our time in Tunisia.
After driving comfortably for just under an hour, we finally arrived at Hasdrubal Thalassa & Spa. Just like the driver, the manager and all of the staff were immaculately dressed. This was a real introduction to the business’s commitment to professionalism and classic hospitality.
I tried to introduce myself to the staff when I first arrived, but the people at the front desk smiled and said ‘We know Mrs. Menchaca.’ I thought maybe I was special, but this was the standard for everyone. As we carried on with our stay, I noticed more and more that all of the staff greeted the guest by name and with a firm handshake.
Even the busboys were catching up with the regulars from all over the world; it was clear that Hasdrubal Thalassa & Spa has an extremely loyal client base. We later found out that – despite tourism being seasonal – all of the staff members at the Hasdrubal Thalassa & Spa are kept on all year. This way, the staff members don’t have to worry about seasonal employment and the standard of service remains consistent.
I‘ve lived abroad for many years and love helping others find work abroad and figure out their “Move Abroad Plan.” Check out my class below to get you started ASAP!

What Hasdrubal Thalassa & Spa specializes in:
- Luxury Suites
- Restorative Spa & Hammam
- Pristine Private Beaches
- 5 Star Hospitality and Service
- Dynamic Dining
- Events and Weddings
We were lucky enough to be staying in the Ambassador Suite, which has a balcony that faces the pool and ocean.
Because we are typically early risers, we were often unable to sleep in and instead, we would watch spectacular sunrises in the early mornings together. Check out my room tour above!
The Ambassador Suite was over 1000 square meters of space and we were completely spoiled with welcome flowers, a fruit and date basket, and a complimentary bottle of wine.
It was so refreshing to not be in my 42 sq m London apartment for once. We spent our time reading in the salon, taking bubble baths in the marble bathroom, and enjoying the rare opportunity to do nothing.
Hasdrubal Thalassa & Spa is particularly good for:
- Romantic holidays
- Beach bums
- Family holidays (the whole resort is closed off & safe)
- Those seeking Rejuvenation
I saw multiple solo travelers who were spending full days at the spa to get over some sort of ailment or even just to relax. There’s also a gym and private trainers for hire so if you wanted to take 2 weeks just to dedicate yourself to health and fitness, you can!

Things to Do in the Area
Because of the weather, we ended up pushing our tour of Hammamet and Nabeul to Sunday – the day before Ramadan.
Our original tour guide, unfortunately, had to cancel with our last-minute arrangement change so the manager of the Hasdrubal Thalassa & Spa took us around instead.
When we went to the front desk to pick him up, he needed a moment to change out of his suit. He shortly returned in a well-tailored blazer, pristine blue jeans, and Gucci leather shoes. I teased him about his choice of outfit for the local Bazar and he replied:
“But this is my casual wear.”
My casual wear is comprised of Krav Maga sweats from 2010 and a chunky sweater that is likely covered in cat hair…. We were living very different lives.
We walked around the lively markets of Nabeul and along the breathtaking coast of Hammamet.
But the REAL treat was when the general manager took us to have tea with his parents as a surprise – I don’t know if this is part of the normal package 😉
Conclusion
Hasdrubal Thalassa & Spa is an incredible resort that’s dedicated to providing the highest quality of customer service possible. Just a 3-hour flight from London, Hasdrubal Thalassa & Spa is open and ready to welcome all.
