Look, it’s not news to say that I love Instagram. It’s one of my favorite social media platforms and it’s how I’ve built a lot of my brand and business.
When you’re building your Instagram, your bio is the first thing that anyone sees. It needs to pack a punch and let the world know who you are in a pinch. For a travel blogger or even someone who just loves going on vacation, leading with your favorite destination can be a great way to position your brand.
So, here are some ways to write an amazing Instagram bio and how you can create an Italian bio for Instagram. Let’s dive in and find out more!
How to Write an Amazing Instagram Bio
Okay, let’s start off with some useful tips and tricks for how to write an amazing Instagram bio that gets people to press that follow button! Trust me, I know what I’m talking about – I’ve got over 170k followers on Instagram and growing!
Short and Sweet is the Way to Go
Fundamentally, an Instagram bio is just an introduction to who you are and what your profile is all about. That’s why you want to keep it short and sweet. Let your content do the talking, and get people scrolling down to see what you’re up to.
Keep it on Topic
It’s super important to keep your bio on topic and focused. If you’re a travel blogger don’t put down an obscure film quote that has nothing to do with the rest of your content. You have a limited amount of characters to use so be wise about it! Let people know who you are and what you’re about in a couple of words.
Pick a “Link in bio” Tool
So, you’re probably aware that Instagram doesn’t let you have clickable links in your posts. It’s always been that way and it looks like that’s not going to change anytime soon. That’s why you need to choose a link in the bio tool so you can add more content and links to your profile.
One of the most popular and easy-to-use ones is Linktree, but if you want one that matches your grid and is a bit more visual, you can use something like likeshop.me.
Bring Some Personality
Even though your Instagram bio needs to be brief, it definitely shouldn’t be boring. Add some humor into your bio or add something a little quirky to let people know your distinct vibe.

Add Your Contact Info
Now, the internet is a weird place so I wouldn’t go adding your phone number or email address or anything like that but making the main contact information your website is essential.
This way people can still get in contact if they want to collaborate or work with you. You can also leave your DMs open, but again, there are plenty of weirdos on the internet…
Keep Emojis to a Minimum
Okay, we all know someone who loves emojis and overuses them at every turn. Don’t do this in your bio. It looks a bit childish and doesn’t actually tell potential followers what you’re about.
It’s honestly a waste of characters. Use one or two, but you don’t need to make it look like Pictionary.
Use Instagram Stories Highlights
It’s up for debate whether Instagram Story Highlights is a part of your Instagram bio, but it’s a cool feature that you should take advantage of.
If you’re a traveler, you can save all your stories for specific locations or separate your advice and content into distinct sections. It makes it easy for your audience to navigate and get the info that they need.
Keep Your Bio Up-to-Date
Okay, I cannot stress this enough, especially if you’re a digital nomad with your current location in the bio – keep your info up to date. If you’re pivoting your strategy slightly, make sure your content reflects that.
If you’re in a new location, make sure you update it, and you should definitely keep your link in the bio tool up-to-date!
Bringing Italian Into Your Instagram Bio
If you’re traveling around Italy, have just moved there, or are an Italian through and through, bringing Italian into your bio is a great way to add some flavor to your profile. There are a few ways we can do this.
Think About Puns
Who doesn’t like a pun? It’s a great way to show your personality, inject some fun, and bring some Italian into your Instagram bio. You can use some content like this:
- Nothing is impastable.
- I think olive you.
- Travel stole a pizza my heart.
- Travel is not about finding yourself. It is about finding pizza in Italy.
- What do you call a fake noodle? An impasta.
- Eat, pasta, love.
- Olive you.
- Scoops, I did it again!
- Did you hear about the Italian chef that died? He pasta-way.
Update Your Location
A lot of the time people put their current location in their Instagram bio to show where they are or where they’re traveling to. This is a cool way of letting your followers know what you’re up to or what future content might be in store for them.
Use Flags
Another common way to add some Italian vibes to your Instagram bio is to add a flag to your profile. Just have it by your pronouns or at the start of your bio to indicate either your heritage or location.
Have Some Solid Italian Instagram Story Highlights
If you’re going to have Italian Instagram content on your profile, make sure you have some Story Highlights that reflect your interest and specialty.
Been on a trip to Naples? Make sure you have a highlight about it. Have content on moving to Italy? Highlight it!
